A Comprehensive Guide on How to Sugar Wax

Sugar Waxing or Halawa Waxing is a natural hair removal technique that dates back to ancient Egypt and Persia. It’s paste made from just sugar, water and lemon juice and is used to gently remove hairs from the root without any addition of harsh chemicals, resins or synthetic additives.

The paste is usually of soft consistency and is applied to the skin against the direction of hair growth, and removed in the direction of hair growth, which ultimately reduces breakage and ingrown hairs.

How to use Sugar Wax or Halawa Wax?

Prepare your skin for the waxing, the skin must be clean and dry before applying Candywax. Make sure the consistency of the wax is soft or as preffered. If the wax consistency is hard (usually happens in cold season or cold areas), place the jar in a luck warm water to soften the consistency before opening the jar to avoid moister contact.

Pro Tip: Lightly dust the area with baby powder for better grip.

Take small amount of wax out of the jar and apply to the hairs against the direction of hair growth. Press it down firmly with your fingers, molding it over the skin.

Pro Tip: Work in small sections for better control.

Hold the skin taut and quickly flick off the wax in the direction of hair growth. Repeat the process with the same ball of wax until it’s no longer effective, then discard.

Pro Tip: Clean up with warm water — it’s water-soluble and mess-free!
